I think #heteropride is a great idea!

Straight people, this is a great idea. The LGBTQ community has gay pride month to celebrate their sexuality, why shouldn’t you have one too? Pick a month, I don’t care which one, any month, and claim it as your own celebration of your love and sexuality. It’s long overdue.

Come out to your friends and family as a person who is having sex with the person or people they love. Loudly sing the praises of your favorite sex toy as you wave it around from the top of a decorated pickup truck in your local Straight Pride Parade. Celebrate the fact that you love people and that sex is great and you are definitely having it with other human beings and you are NOT ASHAMED!

You’re not ashamed, right? It’s not like you have problems talking about sex, right? And straight people definitely don’t judge each other for the kind of sex they like to have. Your buddies know that you love your girlfriend’s strap-on, yeah? Also, I know you all teach your children not to be ashamed to talk about sex, and that it is okay to have sex as long as everyone is consenting. And you definitely support sex positive sex education in schools.

Oh, what did you say? Most of that isn’t true? None of it is true? Hmmmm. Sounds like straight people need help with feeling PRIDE instead of SHAME when it comes to sex.

You really need this.. I’d love to see more celebrations of our sexuality in this culture. I absolutely support this idea. Nothing but good can come from casting off our harmful puritan ideals that sex is something shameful we should keep secret and feel bad about having.

Show me your PRIDE, straight people. I’m waiting.
